"I have been an equestrian resident to the formerly agricultural zoned Santa Ana Heights since 1968. Those were the days we rode our horses to the Orange County Fairgrounds to "Tic Toc's Hitching Post" (present "Minute King), to East Bluff Plaza and would swim the bay with the water skiers. "
"My Equestrian background involves years of showing the hunter/jumper circuit, managing an Arabian Ranch, working for an equine veterinarian and rehabilitating spent thorougbred race horses. Through the years, I have given horsemanship clinics to local schools, assisted the needs of wildfire evacuees and the lone couple riding horseback across the United States for their cause. I am proud to have started the manure management program in 1999."
"Currently, my job is to educate and help equestrians and horses to live a safe and enjoyable experience. most of all, my passion is extreme riding with my rehab horses!"

"I have lived in California for the past 24 years and have resided at my current home on Mesa Drive for 17 years. I rode as a young girl and dreamed of owning a horse, but hadn't given that idea much thought until moving into our house near the Back Bay. Walking my dogs one day I ran into a woman on horseback that invited me to ride and the rest is history. I have been riding ever since. I have owned my horse named Snickers, an Appaloosa thoroughbred, for the past 8 years. I had another horse before I got him, but he and I are a perfect match and I cherish that connection. I ride about three or four times a week. I trailer out to Casper's every chance I get and ride the trails there. I love to camp with friends and our horses and have taken a few extended camping trips to other camping areas in addition to Casper's. I have also taken a riding vacation up along the Monterey coast.
I love our equestrian neighborhood which still retains a rural and friendly atmosphere in the thick of a town not usually perceived as rural. I enjoy the variety of animals, equestrian and otherwise, and love seeing everyone out on their horses each day.
I would love to see our neighborhood arena finally finished after 12 years since we presented it and strongly support a safe passageway on Mesa Drive for the protection of all involved."

Carol Ruprecht Board Member - Adopt-a-trail
Carol heads up the neighborhood Adopt-A-Trail program in which volunteers monitor the residential bridle trails to ensure the timely removal of equine fecal matter. This program was developed in response to the city's unique requirement that horse manure be picked up, much the same as dog waste. Participants in the Adopt-A-Trail program volunteer for a section of trail, for a specific day of the week. They monitor the trail and clean up any horse manure not already tended by the owner. Anyone interested in joining the program is warmly welcomed – we have available sections!
In addition to the Adopt-A-Trail program, Carol also volunteers for a number of other non-profit organizations. She is in charge of Media Relations for the national Ride and Tie Association (rideandtie.org). She is a Newport Beach member of CERT (emergency response). She is a docent for the Irvine Ranch Conservancy (irconservancy.org) leading free public equestrian tours in local wildlands. Carol is also a poll worker, contributing her time to the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
Carol and her husband Tom own a number of Arabian horses. They compete in trail running, endurance riding, and the combination of both in the sport of Ride & Tie. They have lived in the Back Bay since 1991.
